Dry needling is used to reduce pain. During the dry needling treatment, the body’s own pain-suppressing mechanisms are stimulates to reduce pain. The main pain reducing effect is achieved by endorphins that are released in the body. Endorphins are the body’s own form of painkiller.
What is Dry Needling?
Our physiotherapists are trained in dry needling. This modality helps by relieving trigger points in tights and tense muscles. Dry needling is a form of therapy where fine needles are inserted into the body at specific points. Our physiotherapists practice anatomical acupuncture, where the specific insertion points are known as trigger points.
Is Dry Needling Safe?
Dry needling is generally very safe. Serious side effects are rare, less than one per 10 000 treatments. This clinic only uses single use disposable needles. If you do not wish to be treated with dry needling please let us know
